In this Stanford News video Sarah Thornton, graduate student, and Selina Pan, post-doc in Professor Chris Gerdes’ lab discuss integrating autonomous vehicles into society and how to translate the decisions that humans make intuitively into vehicles in an ethical and morally responsible manner. The researchers are conducting experiments to translate social and ethical behavior into algorithms so that self-driving cars will maintain vehicle safety and passenger comfort.
