CARS Postdoctoral Fellowships in Transportation - Selection Criteria

The Center for Automotive Research at Stanford will review applications based on:

Applicant qualifications

Merit of the proposal.  The proposal must be written by the fellow and reviewed by the Stanford faculty sponsor.

• Relevance of the proposal to immediate transportation problems, particularly those with social equity, ethical or policy implications.

• The applicant’s career pathacademic focus and progress to-date.  If considerable time has elapsed since the doctoral degree, and that time was not spent engaged in research, the applicant is expected to describe in the application how the time was spent.

Letters of recommendation

Number of years of postdoctoral research training since latest doctoral degree, with preference to applicants in the first three years of their postdoctoral training. 

• The extent to which the applicant brings new talent or new areas of research to Stanford.
