Chris Gerdes is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Director of the Center for Automotive Research at Stanford (CARS), and Director of the REVS program at Stanford. His lab looks at how to design future cars that work cooperatively with the driver or drive themselves. Vehicles in the lab include X1, an entirely student-built test vehicle, and Shelley, an Audi TT-S capable of turning a competitive lap time around the track without a human driver. Professor Gerdes holds a PhD from UC-Berkeley.
Fei-Fei Li is an Associate Professor of Computer Science, and the Director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab and the Stanford Vision Lab. Dr. Li’s main research areas are in machine learning, computer vision and cognitive and computational neuroscience. She has published more than 150 scientific articles in top-tier journals and conferences, including Nature, PNAS, Journal of Neuroscience, and more. Dr. Li obtained her B.A. degree in physics from Princeton in 1999 with High Honors, and her PhD degree in electrical engineering from California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2005. She was selected as one of the “Great Immigrants: The Pride of America” in 2016 by the Carnegie Foundation.
