Adina Sterling, assistant professor at the Graduate School of Business, focuses her research on social networks and how they affect processes and outcomes in markets. She’s particularly interested in why companies use social networks in their hiring processes and how hiring will evolve as AI and machine learning tools are more widely adopted.Alex Stamos, cybersecurity expert and adjunct professor at the Center for International Security and Cooperation, is working to improve the security and safety of the Internet through his teaching and research. Prior to joining Stanford, Stamos served as the Chief Security Officer of Facebook where he led a team charged with understanding and mitigating information security risks to the company and safety risks to the 2.5 billion people on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Drawing on this experience, Stamos will address the difficult balance in tech between following the laws around the world and protecting human rights on digital platforms.
