Lauren Aquino Shluzas, Ph.D., Executive Director for Healthcare Design Research at Stanford’s Center for Design Research, and Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine, will discuss the research she leads that focuses on improving the usability, quality and adoption of healthcare products and systems, at a reduced cost to users and stakeholders. Specific projects she will discuss include the design of a wearable hands-free digital image capture system that measures, tags and annotates chronic wounds; a modular electronics prototyping platform to create custom devices that conform to the size, shape, and comfort levels of multiple patient profiles; and a monitor to track the fatigue levels of clinical teams. Stemming from this work, Lauren will discuss opportunities for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions while driving. Webex link and more info will be sent at the end of May.
