JR Hildebrand, Verizon IndyCar Series driver, is also an adjunct lecturer with Stanford’s vehicle dynamics lab, working with students doing their on-track work at Thunderhill Raceway Park. Hildebrand helps them decipher and communicate what the car is doing. According to JR, “In some ways, (these students) have made me think differently about what I do at the racetrack. What are the things we do exceptionally well as teams at tracks. Are there things these guys do because they’re operating in an environment that’s completely free of contraints? It’s all learning what’s next.”
